Meet

Amanda Wright

Breathwork facilitator, Qi Gong teacher, creative leader, DJ, global culture-maker — grounded in ancient wisdom, modern science, and a lifetime of lifeforce in motion.

A body of work shaped by nature, movement, music, and three decades of lived experience across the world.

ROOTS OF LIFEFORCE

Amanda grew up on a farm in the Waikato, Aotearoa New Zealand — surrounded by trees, water, animals, and open space. Her early years were shaped by vitality, rhythm, curiosity, and a deep relationship with nature.

These foundations continue to guide her work today: presence, freedom, groundedness, and the intelligence of the natural world.

THE CREATIVE FRONTIER

In her 20s, Amanda travelled the world, exploring the heart of global creative culture.

She became one of the first women DJs in Goa’s psychedelic dance scene, riding motorbikes, creating art and décor, playing across Europe, and immersing herself in communities where creativity was a lifeline.

This era defined her signature qualities:

courage, rhythm, creativity, community, leadership, lifeforce.

Where Creative Freedom Became Leadership

A major turning point arrived at Burning Man in the late ’90s, where Amanda was one of the first New Zealanders to attend.

The early, raw, intimate years of the festival shaped her understanding of:

  • Community-led creativity

  • Intentional space-making

  • Ritual, art, and collective transformation

  • The power of people gathering for meaning

This era profoundly influenced the creative ethos Amanda would later bring into Splore.

SPLORE: BUILDING WORLDS THROUGH MUSIC & MOVEMENT

Returning home, Amanda co-founded Splore Festival in 1998 and led its creative direction for 16 years.

Splore became a living expression of her global journey — weaving art, music, nature, culture, and human expression into an iconic Aotearoa gathering.

Here, Amanda refined her ability to shape environments that move people on emotional, physical, and spiritual levels.

The same intelligence now underpins her breathwork and embodiment work.

THE SHIFT INTO BREATHWORK, QI GONG & NERVOUS SYSTEM SCIENCE

In 2020, Amanda stepped into the next evolution of her path.

Studying under Tom Granger, Peter Caughey, and Steph Magenta, she wove together:

  • Functional breathwork

  • Qi Gong + classical Chinese wisdom

  • Somatic sequencing

  • Nervous system science meaning

  • Creativity + rhythm + movement

This became her lifeforce-based method — where ancient systems meet modern physiology, and embodiment becomes a way of life.
